About Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery

The Red Deer & District Museum Society o/a the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) combines the wonderful elements of a museum and art gallery to Inspire a Passion for History and Art. The MAG remains committed to creating memorable experiences for visitors of all ages that reflect the rich and complex diversity of Red Deer and the surrounding area.

The museum’s rotating exhibit schedule presents a glimpse of Red Deer’s historical and contemporary life, and brings world-class exhibitions to our City. Public programming offers a variety of opportunities to explore your imagination. Come make art at MAG Saturdays, take a walking tour, or attend a special event.

The museum’s permanent exhibit, “Remarkable Red Deer” opened in March of 2013 – in time for Red Deer’s Centennial. It highlights the people, places and events that have shaped Red Deer’s unique history over the past 100 years.

About Kerry Wood Centre

Nature inspired art!

Located in the heart of the City of Red Deer, the Kerry Wood Nature Centre is adjacent to the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, a municipally-owned 118 hectare park and federal migratory bird sanctuary. The Nature Centre is open year-round, closed only on Christmas Day.

Throughout the summer, history is brought to life with authentic, entertaining, and informative live programs. All three of Red Deer’s founding cultures are celebrated. Visitors can learn to make bannock or home-made ice cream. They might dance to First Nations or Metis music, toss the caber and eat haggis, or participate in an old-fashioned garden harvest.
