About Edgar Farms

We have the largest asparagus operation in Alberta that produces the most tender, sweetest, flavorful asparagus you will ever taste – due to our cool climate and optimum soil conditions. Our short season for asparagus is approximately mid-May until the end of June.

We also grow many acres of sweet fresh garden peas, sugar snap and snow peas, broad beans, yellow beans and green beans each year. Peas start producing about July 10th and beans start about August 10th and end with the first frost.

Pea tendrils are a new specialty, they are tender little baby pea plants that are an excellent addition to any salad.

Where does YOUR food come from? Eggs and Lamb is a locally owned and operated food retailer located just South of beautiful Gull Lake in Central Alberta. At Brown Eggs & Lamb we started raising chickens when our kids were young to give them an opportunity to be responsible for something and to learn about business and money in a fun way. Over the years the interest and demand for eggs was surprising and we wanted to oblige our customers so we continued to expand to where we are today.

About the Troubled Monk

We are proudly located in Red Deer, Alberta in the heart of malt barley country! We poured our first pint from our 15 barrel brew house on June 12, 2015.

The brewing process relies on 4 main ingredients. Malt barley (or other grain), hops, yeast and water. The majority of the malt we use is locally grown in the fields of Alberta, but we also source malt from other parts of the world. We use Canadian hops whenever possible and also source hops from the US, Europe, and New Zealand. Our water is local Red Deer water (we filter it before we use it in our beer).

Please come and visit! Things in the back are always changing, and a tour is a great way to get better insight into how our delicious craft beer is brewed!

Here’s what you can look forward to…
