Rocky Museum
“Step into the past!” with your family. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in our backyard during the summer months. Watch our local artist-in-residence weave beautiful fabrics on her loom. The Rocky Museum showcases the history of the pioneers who homesteaded in this area, worked in the lumber camps and sawmills and sent their children to one-room schoolhouses. Our exhibits include the 1911 Meadows Forestry cabin and the 1923 Glacier Schoolhouse. Have a seat in one of the school desks and imagine yourself travelling back in time to the days when students walked to school carrying lunch pails and sat two to a seat on really cold days.
Inside the Rocky Museum, check out the Killico General Store – no frozen pizzas sold here! – and the Coles Brand boards. Take time to listen to a song on our restored player piano. Museum staff will happily demonstrate how it works!
Visitors will find a great place to stop and stretch their legs on their way to the West Country and the Rocky Mountains. Feel free to wander through our gift shop which features souvenirs and local arts & crafts.
Our visitors have left many positive reviews, such as ” Wow! Well done!”, “An incredible collection of artifacts, Thank you.” and “We liked the museum very much – a lot of things, told a good story of the past”.
We are open year round with extended summer hours. Admission is charged.
