The Red Deer Spartan 5k Sprint / 13k Super Weekend may not be back until next June, but there’s more obstacles for you to jump over ahead!
Fireworks & Music
Kick off the summer leading into Canada Day fireworks with a Boogie Bounce Pop Up. Get your blood pumping with intense cardio and muscle conditioning to the beat of music specifically designed to match every step of the workout. There are two upcoming events – one in Blackfalds on June 21st and one in Red Deer on June 20th. Later, Pound Fitness in Red Deer on June 27th, and Triple Threat in Blackfalds on July 25th, both also hosted by Boogie Bounce.
Foam & Mud in Red Deer
Get clean at the 5k Foam Fest in Red Deer on June 22nd, filled with more foam than you ever knew existed, plenty of food, local vendors, and even beer gardens. If the summer heat gets to be too much, don’t be afraid to get dirty again by diving over some muddy obstacles at Canada’s largest mud obstacle race, Mud Hero, held at the Canyon Ski Resort & Recreation Area in Red Deer. It totals 6km and more than 16 obstacles of mud, water, and challenging terrain. Follow it up with a barbeque, beverages, and a DJ at the post-race Mud Bash.
Alberta Master Games
The deadline to register for the Alberta Master Games is August 1st, so don’t delay! The games themselves take place August 22-25th, and are jam packed with mountain biking, canoe and kayak water sports and races, archery, indigenous games, a demolition derby, and evening concerts and beer gardens. This year, women’s hockey has also been added as a new sport.
Bower Ponds
Climb into a large, inflatable ball and walk on water at Red Deer’s Bower Ponds! It’s clean, it’s fun, and you’re basically hamster-Jesus.
Marathons
If your craving for marathons runs into fall, celebrate the life of a trail builder, maintainer, and runner in the chip-timed Bill Nielsen Trail Run on October 5th. Early bird registration pricing is available now. Or you can check out the Red Deer Halloween Half Marathon and 5k/10k Run on October 26th. Past that, there’s still more, with the X Trail Winter Edition 5k/10k on January 13th, 2020, and the Spring Fever Run 5k/10k in April 2020, both in Red Deer.
Experience adrenaline and push yourself this summer to test just how tough you really are!
